I left the textile village with a few beautiful pashminas and saris – all of which are timeless, classic India souvenirs.I highly recommend a visit to Amarkantak for amazing beauty, cultural experiences and natural phenomena. The area has a fascinating history that seems far removed from today; yet many aspects still play an important role in daily life. Plus, it’s the only spot visited on this trip where language wasn’t an issue and where I didn’t have to worry about transportation or having my backpack broken into. It was a welcome isolating experience after so much traveling. There are (expensive) budget lodges in Amarkantak, but due to my limited time, I chose to stay at the nice Palaiya
